SAVE OUR
GREEN SPACES!
Sunnyvale city council is considering selling/leasing
14 acres of the Civic Center (library, city hall, etc. area) for commercial and
residential use!
It is a beautiful piece of land with
more than 200 trees…more than 80 of which are mature redwoods and pines. It includes
walkways and benches upon which one can rest in the pleasant shade. It would be a crime to lose this quiet green
space in the middle of the city! The council recently voted to sell Raynor Park
Buildings (May, 2012), Murphy Park Expansion space (August, 2012) and now
this! Help us save our parks and green
space!
Why is the city considering this
proposal?
The
proposal is to sell/lease the green space and trees to raise money for a new
library and city buildings. Developers
have already been contacted and have expressed interest.
But………
For
large new buildings voters always vote on a bond issue. An end-run around this would be an affront to
democracy----and part of our heritage gone forever!
Who are we?
Concerned residents who want to preserve green space &
parks for future generations.
What you can do!
